Collaboration with the Catalan University
Thanks to the DECIRE-WATER project, Dr. Hana Brunhoferová and Dr. Jan Matuštík had the opportunity to visit the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona and meet in person with colleagues dedicated to innovative solutions in the field of water management.
During the visit, they personally toured one of the project technologies under assessment (a constructed wetland treating wastewater treatment plant effluent) and had the opportunity to discuss other ongoing project activities, particularly regarding the integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA).
The visit also included a meeting with the GEMMA research group, where we learned about a number of fascinating research activities. Among the most interesting was the research on fully biodegradable bioplastics produced from algae.
We look forward to the continued collaboration and to strengthening the integration of environmental and social assessments for sustainable innovations in water management.
