LCA Methodology Training Course for Turkish Experts
From November 4 to 6, we at SUPRE were delighted to welcome a delegation of Turkish textile and cotton experts for an intensive three-day training course on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
Lecturers from our institute—Jan Matuštík, Aleš Paulu, and Vladimír Kočí—guided the group through advanced LCA methodologies, software tools, and practical applications tailored specifically to cotton and textile value chains. The sessions bridged the gap between methodology and real-world supply chain challenges, ranging from carbon footprint reduction to upcoming EU regulations under the European Green Deal.
The training was organized as part of the Erasmus+ project "Sustain4Cotton – Environmentally Sustainable Cotton Production for Carbon Emission Reduction," which aims to promote sustainable cotton production, empower trainers in Turkey, and prepare producers for the evolving EU regulatory landscape.
Key highlights of the training included:
-
Demonstrations of LCA tools, including LCA for Experts and openLCA
-
Case studies linking cotton farming practices with environmental indicators
-
Discussions on circularity, ecodesign, and the role of LCA in future textile markets
-
An exchange of expertise between Czech and Turkish specialists in sustainable agriculture and manufacturing
It was truly inspiring to see how deeply committed the Turkish team is to integrating sustainability, carbon accounting, and innovation into their textile sector.
We look forward to continuing this collaboration within the Sustain4Cotton consortium and supporting the transition to low-emission, transparent, and competitive cotton value chains.
